Parks are important places where communities come together. They make citizens happy, communities strong and cities sustainable. We’re proud to have completed another year of engaging the Atlanta community to activate the power of parks.
In March, we launched our first-ever comprehensive campaign, Parks for All, which has allowed us to scale up our efforts — awarding more grants than ever before, bringing on new team members and launching our Park Stewardship Academy.
This year, Park Pride has:
- Worked with 145 Friends of the Park groups to support nearly 200 parks.
- Graduated the inaugural class of the Park Stewardship Academy – a dozen park champions from throughout our service area.
- Delivered over 7,000 hours of sweat equity to our parks in volunteer service through our Volunteer Program. Groups and individuals joined us in rolling up their sleeves and being the change they wish to see in the world.
- Awarded a record $2.6M through our Grantmaking Program for park improvements. More than half of these funds were allocated to parks in low-income neighborhoods.
2023 was a great year of advancing our mission. 2024 marks our 35th anniversary, and we’re excited about what the year has in store! To check out our in-depth 2023 recap, click below.
