Volunteering in Parks

Volunteer Program

Every year, Park Pride connects thousands of volunteers to meaningful opportunities to make a positive impact on public parks.

Join an upcoming free volunteer day hosted by Park Pride or one of Atlanta’s Friends of the Park groups supporting greenspaces across the city.

Alternatively, we can work together to plan a custom volunteer experience, an ideal option for businesses or corporations (or other large groups) looking to make a deeper impact.

Volunteer with Park Pride

Park Pride hosts several Greener Good Volunteer Days throughout the year, planned in collaboration with Friends of the Park groups, ensuring that volunteer projects meet the unique needs of the surrounding community. From mulching and painting, to picking up litter and clearing invasive plants, there is no shortage of ways to make a difference.

People of all ages* and abilities can volunteer with Park Pride. You can sign up on your own, with your family and friends, with members of your congregation or student or civic group – everyone is welcome!

*Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Volunteer with a Friends of the Park Group

Many Friends of the Park groups across the city host regular volunteer days to beautify, maintain, and institute long-lasting, positive change within their neighborhood parks. Park Pride works with Hands On Atlanta to make connecting with these volunteer opportunities fast and easy.

Custom Volunteer Experience

Park Pride will work with you to create a custom, private volunteer experience to suit your needs. This volunteer option is best suited for businesses/corporations with the means to support the additional costs of a tailored event for 25 or more employees (though we welcome working with civic, nonprofit, student, or large family groups).

You’ll work with Park Pride to identify a date and location for your volunteer event, and discuss the various needs and desires of your business or group. From there, we’ll handle all event logistics, from scoping to implementation, including coordination with local government and collaboration with the local Friends of the Park group (ensuring that your volunteer project supports the unique needs of the park and surrounding community). This allows you to focus on recruiting and confirming your volunteers.

Team work makes the dream work!

What to Expect

From mulching and painting, to picking up litter and clearing invasive plants, we’ll discuss a variety of project options to make a meaningful and positive impact on a local park. While each project and each park is different, there are a few things that you can always expect while planning and participating in a Park Pride volunteer day:

  • Projects that address urgent park needs that are supported by the community.
  • Volunteer tasks that engage and strengthen teams or groups of employees.
  • A chance to connect with the local community and learn about the impact you’re making in the neighborhood.
  • Lots of fun outdoors!

Sample Volunteer Event

In coordination with Park Pride staff, you’ll create a custom volunteer project that meets your business’ interests and fulfills a community need. See below for a sample volunteer day timeline.

Support Park Pride

Those receiving custom volunteer project services from Park Pride are asked to support the cost of scoping, planning, and execution of the tailored volunteer experience. Below are project minimums based on the number of volunteers you anticipate; final costs will be based on the agreed upon scope of project and necessary project materials.

  • Up to 25 people – $1,750
  • 25 – 50 people – $2,500
  • 50 – 100* people – $3,500

*Park Pride will work with groups of over 100 people. Based on group size and project scope, final costs will be determined by Park Pride.

Corporate Partners

Park Pride’s corporate partners are business supporters interested in supporting better parks and stronger communities year-round.

Corporate partner recognition begins at $7,500 and is inclusive of all giving, including volunteer day support and event sponsorships. Many businesses start with a volunteer day and continue with an event sponsorship, qualifying them for recognition as a corporate partner.
