Ribbon Cutting at Melvin Drive Park

City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation Commissioner John Dargle says, “It’s a great day to be in a park!” That was certainly the case on September 29, 2021 at Melvin Drive Park where the ribbon was cut to celebrate a new pavilion and walking trail, both of which received support of Park Pride Community Building Grants (generously funded by The Home Depot Foundation)!

Thanks to Mayor Bottoms for joining the celebration, as well as Commissioner Dargle and the parks and recreation team, Councilmember Overstreet, Councilmember Dickens, and Tolton Pace from The Home Depot Foundation.

And of course, congratulations to the Friends of Melvin Drive Park and members of NPU-P–especially Mr. Woodson!–on these wonderful park improvements. Thank you for leading the way for your park and community!  We’re looking forward to seeing what amenities you pursue next.
