“Parks have the ability to promote exercise and fulfillment while bringing people together.”
– Faria Khan
Outside of working with Park Pride, Faria loves gardening , spending time with friends and family, and playing video games.
We had a conversation with Faria to talk all things parks:
Park Pride’s mission is ” to engage communities to activate the power of parks.” What does the “power of parks” mean to you?
Outdoor recreation is a huge component in leading a healthy life, as parks have the ability to promote exercise. There’s a lot of fulfillment that comes from using parks as a public space for community building, and parks do exactly that. The “power of parks” is the ability to bring people together and that parks should be accessible to everyone.
Why are parks an important park of the community?
Parks allow us to take a break from our busy lives. We can enjoy a safe space to have a good time with our family, friends, and pets. Parks are also essential for kids to develop the physical and mental skills needed for life.
What are you enjoying the most about working with Park Pride?
I enjoy working with Park Pride because we all share the same vision of promoting parks and greenspaces. Being in an environment of like-minded individuals who want the overall good is always a great experience.
Now for a fun question, what’s your favorite movie?
I think my favorite movie would be The Dark Knight as a part of the Batman Trilogy. It’s a dramatic and suspenseful film that really compels you to think about the good and bad in people.
What’s your favorite park here in Atlanta and why?
Piedmont Park is probably my favorite park because it really is a beautiful place and always holds fun public events and festivals.
We’re glad to have you, Faria!
