About the City Nature Challenge

This international challenge is all about banding together as a community and venturing out into nature to find and document local wildlife. Put on by the Citizen/Community Science teams at the California Academy of Sciences and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, this is a friendly competition between cities to see who can gather the most people to help make the most observations about the most species. In 2019, more than 35,000 people from more than 150 cities made almost one million observations.
