Ensure Everyone has Access to a Great Park!

During this global pandemic of
COVID-19, local parks have become more important than ever.

In fact, 81% of Atlantans recently surveyed said that their perception of the value of parks has increased during this crisis. Park usage is up by over 60%, and recreation centers have taken on new roles of COVID testing sites, virtual learning centers, and food distribution hubs.

COVID-19 has made the need for great parks all the more urgent.

But tens of thousands of families in Atlanta (nearly 28% of city residents) still do not have a park within walking distance of their homes. That means approximately 1/3 of residents cannot access the important health benefits and services of parks, nature, and recreation centers close to home.

We know that now, more than ever, local parks matter!

Park Pride believes that everyone deserves to have a great park nearby. For over 30 years, we’ve worked alongside communities and government partners to increase access to quality parks, to elevate community voices, and to ensure that parks meet the needs of the communities they serve.
