Nestled in the heart of the Virginia-Highland neighborhood, this beloved 3-acre park is a testament to the power of community advocacy! Once threatened by plans for a highway expansion, residents came together to protect the land and successfully champion its transformation into John Howell Park instead. With its spacious lawns, mature shade trees, and amenities for visitors of all ages, the park remains a cherished gathering place in one of Atlanta’s most active and connected neighborhoods. The park is also home to the only AIDS memorial located within Atlanta city limits, offering a place for reflection and remembrance alongside everyday recreation.
