An Ode to Parks

Poets have always been drawn to capturing the beauty of life — whether that beauty lies in humanity, nature, or the interplay between the two. It is only natural, then, that there exists a long and storied tradition of poets writing with love and gratitude for parks and the stewards who work tirelessly to maintain these vital spaces.

Parks, Poetry, and Prose is a workshop on Sunday, May 3 that seeks to highlight this deep connection and to celebrate both national and local poets who have dedicated their talents to expressing the reverence they feel for parks through their craft. Ultimately, the goal of this workshop is to emphasize the enduring importance of literature in all aspects of life and to illuminate the sources of inspiration that fuel these poets — chief among them, the beauty and wonder of parks and the caretakers who sustain them.
