Growing Stronger Parks Since 1989
Park Pride has been bringing people and parks together since 1989. What began in the City of Atlanta has grown to serve communities across Atlanta, DeKalb County and Brookhaven. Along the way, we’ve connected neighbors, funders and government partners to improve parks, strengthen community leadership and turn local ideas into lasting change. For more than 35 years, that work has been guided by a belief that still drives us today: everyone should have a great park close to home.
People, Parks, and Policy
Our work starts with community. We strengthen local leadership so neighbors can shape and steward their parks, catalyze improvements through funding, design and technical assistance, and advocate for the policies and public investment that help parks thrive for the long term. Across it all, we use data and community stories to understand what’s working and help make the case for great parks for all.
A Partner
We’re not the Parks Department. We’re not just a funding source. We occupy a unique space between communities, funders and government partners. We don’t tell neighborhoods what their parks should be or speak for the people who use them. We work alongside neighbors, providing the tools, funding, expertise and connections that help them shape and improve their parks.
That partnership starts with Friends of the Park. These groups give neighbors a collective voice and serve as the gateway to many of Park Pride’s programs and resources, helping communities build the leadership and momentum to make lasting change.
