Celebration of a New Park Pride Era

On September 24th, park enthusiasts gathered at The Shed at Glenwood to welcome our new Executive Director, Michael Halicki, and kick-off a new era at Park Pride. In brief, this event was a HUGE success! More than 80 people showed up to show support for Park Pride and our continuing journey. Thank you for taking part, and more importantly for showing your support of parks in Atlanta and DeKalb.

It was truly a fantastic evening. When else would community members, Councilmen and Councilwomen, DeKalb County Commissioners, Park Pride staff and Board members, come together in the same room?!

Let’s take a look at some of the moments caught on camera, shall we?

Commissioner Dusenbury’s attendance was so appreciated and so fitting for this event as Park Pride commences its new beginning. Did you know that he is a former Executive Director of Park Pride?!

Allison Barnett, Associate Director of Park Pride, with Board Member, Joe Finley

Another little known tid-bit – Allison Barnett was the FIRST employee of Park Pride!! That was back in 1991, which means Allison has been with us for 22 YEARS! Simply amazing. We don’t know where we’d be today if it wasn’t for Allison.

Michael left an amazing first impression with all the park enthusiasts in attendance. Not only did he share his vision with those gathered, but he also laid the groundwork for the PARC Pledge that is now rolled out! Head over to the Park Pride website to check it out and sign your name to support the PARC initiative!

Thanks again to all those who attended!! See you at the park 🙂
