Osaze Stigler is Excited to Design #ForTheGreenerGood

Meet Osaze Stigler, Park Pride's Park Visioning intern!

Osaze Akil Stigler is a student at the University of Georgia where he studies landscape architecture – but this summer, he is one of Park Pride’s Park Visioning interns. We are thrilled to have his insight and energy on team. His excitement for learning and working with people is contagious!

“I’m enjoying learning how to be a better designer and to
engage communities in creating great spaces that foster
community, creativity, and growth.” ~ Osaze Stigler

When Osaze is not helping Friends of the Park groups bring their park dreams to life, he spends his time painting, sketching, and having family time. His favorite park activity is simply walking the paths and enjoying the surroundings.

Learn more about Osaze through our short interview below.

Why are parks important?

Parks are important because they provide a platform for a community to take shape. They are places where relationships are formed, and neighborhoods are strengthened.

Park Pride’s mission is “to engage communities to activate the power of parks.” In what ways are parks “powerful”?

Parks are powerful because they help to strengthen our mental, physical, and emotional well-being. They can also be landmarks of a community, reinforcing identity whether it be historical, cultural, and/ or geographical.

Why is it important for communities to have a voice in their parks?

It is important for communities to have a voice in their parks because they are going to use it and benefit from it. It is their space, so they should be able to help determine its purposes so that it can be best suited for their neighborhood.

What part of your internship with Park Visioning are you enjoying most?

I’m enjoying just learning how to be a better designer and to engage communities in creating great spaces that foster community, creativity, and growth.
