This is a 30-acre greenspace featuring old-growth forest\, meadows\, springs\, and wetlands. \nExplore its rich history\, from farmland and a WWI-era cavalry paddock to a beloved natural preserve\, thanks to decades of community advocacy. Stroll along serene trails\, take in the beauty of this undisturbed landscape\, and discover its importance in watershed management and outdoor recreation. \nThis is a Valentine’s Day walk so let’s show the Ashford Forest Preserve some love! 💕 \nNOTE: Free parking is available in the gravel lot adjacent to the Preserve. We will walk along a natural path with a slight elevation. The trail is not accessible for wheelchairs or walkers.

SUMMARY:Field Trip: Champion Trees Tour
DESCRIPTION:Calling all tree enthusiasts! 🌳💚 \nIn honor of 2025 Georgia Arbor Week\, Park Pride and Trees Atlanta are co-hosting a Tour of Champion Trees at Herbert Taylor Park! Some of the trees in this park are a whopping 150-180 years old! This public park is a member of the Old-Growth Forest Network and is home to several of Atlanta’s Champion Trees. \nThis tour will be led by Park Pride’s Director of Education Eli Dickerson\, Park Ambassador & Friends of Herbert Taylor Park’s Greta Hutto\, and Trees Atlanta’s Docent Priya Sarathy. We’ll look for the champion trees amongst the remnants of this incredible old-growth hickory beach forest\, learn more about the Champion Tree Program\, and explore opportunities to connect with groups that can help protect Atlanta’s champion trees and canopy. \nClick here for additional info and to register. \nNOTE: We’ll meet by the kiosk in the park.
