Join us on Friday\, January 9\, at 9 am for a one-hour walk at Brownwood Park led by the Friends of Brownwood! This small but mighty park is a true neighborhood gem\, home to a vibrant youth community center\, winding trails\, a flourishing community garden\, active tennis courts\, and more. This park has something for everyone\, and you won’t want to miss exploring it with us! \nWe’re also excited to highlight Brownwood’s newest feature: the beautiful community pavilion! Park Pride recently joined neighbors and partners for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate this amazing addition\, supported by a Park Pride grant. What makes this project especially meaningful is that it is truly for the community and by the community. The pavilion was designed by Lauren Trotter\, an East Atlanta resident whose thoughtful design reflects the spirit and creativity of the neighborhood. \nCome walk with us\, meet neighbors\, hear the story behind the pavilion\, and enjoy a refreshing morning in one of East Atlanta’s beloved parks. Light refreshments will be provided (while supplies last) by Capital B News\, who will also be joining us. We can’t wait to see you there! \nNOTE: We’ll meet outside of the East Atlanta Kids Club. There is a parking lot with limited spots\, along with plenty of street parking. \n\nEnvironmental Education Day is in January\, let’s use this walk as a way to get started! Try using apps like iNaturalist or Merlin Bird ID to turn an ordinary walk into a discovery adventure\, identify plants\, insects\, and birds\, contribute to community science\, and learn how wildlife is using urban green spaces in real time.

Nestled between Northside Drive and Howell Mill Road\, the western portion follows the southern bank of Peachtree Creek and offers a beautiful blend of active recreation and serene natural spaces. \nAs we explore\, we’ll take in scenic trails\, wooded areas\, and creekside views while learning about the park’s wetlands and their connection to broader efforts like the Fix Peachtree Creek initiative. We’ll also share updates on an upcoming watershed project expected to take shape in 2026. Join us to discover a hidden gem and hear directly from those helping steward and shape the future of this important greenspace! \nNOTE: We’ll meet at the park across from 802 Wesley Dr NW\, Atlanta\, GA 30305. The walk will be along a flat\, natural path – wear comfortable closed toe shoes.
