Park Pride has joined up with trails advocate MTB Atlanta to teach participants about trail management for local parks. Led by veteran trail builder and educator Walt Bready. The goal is to improve sustainability and reduce overall maintenance needs.
Learn the best practices for managing natural surface trails with a hands on rock armoring project. We will start with a walk and talk trail maintenance assessment at the Outdoor Activity Center. Participants will learn how to identify trail maintenance needs for long term management and care. For example, how to solve erosion problems caused by users and/or water. Then we will build a rock armored section of trail located in a drainage crossing.
Participants should bring a reusable water bottle and be dressed appropriately to work outside on the trail. Closed toe shoes and pants are required. Gloves and tools will be provided by Park Pride, MTB Atlanta and Outdoor Activity Center.
Lunch will be provided following the workshop.
This workshop will build on the skills developed in previous workshops and is intended for those who already have basic trail building and maintenance experience.
Cost: $5 / person
