With the support of The Home Depot Foundation, The Robert W. Woodruff Foundation and the Cecil B. Day Foundation, Park Pride’s 2014 grant cycle awards totaled $800,000! (see Park Pride’s website for the official press release).
Below is a summary of the park improvement projects planned by grant recipients:
The Friends of Adams Park will build a boardwalk around the park’s lake and make several ADA accessibility improvements.
The Atlanta Memorial Park Conservancy will install new park signage and complete a study and design of sidewalks and trails.
Blue Heron Nature Preserve will install new park signage and construct a universally accessible entrance for their building.
Central Park and Lillian Cooper Shepherd Park will be the home of new outdoor fitness equipment.
Peachtree Heights East Neighborhood Association will install a granite stone edge around the pond in Duck Pond Park to mitigate the erosion caused by the pond’s collection of stormwater from the surrounding 112 acres of land.
Global Growers will revitalize their garden amenities and construct a pavilion at Forty Oaks Nature Preserve (DeKalb County).
The Friends of Frazier-Rowe Park (DeKalb County) will build a pedestrian entrance on LaVista Road and install site furnishings throughout the park.
Manigault Street Playlot, part of Lang-Carson Park, will benefit from construction documents to redesign the pedestrian entrance.
Oakland Cemetery will install new park benches and trash receptacles throughout the grounds.
Livable Buckhead, Inc. will purchase property that will allow for the connection of North Buckhead, Peachtree Park and Lindmont LaVista neighborhoods via PATH400.
The Friends of Reverend James Orange Park‘s award will support the complete renovation of the park, including amenities such as a playground, bathhouse, pool and splash pad.
A collection of abandoned lots will be acquired and transformed into Riverwalk Atlanta, a 5+ acre park along the Chattahoochee River.
HABESHA will install a perimeter fence to protect and add beauty to their community garden at Rosa Burney Park.
The Friends of Ansley Park will build a terraced granite gathering area that will also mitigate erosion at Winn Park.
